Long Distance Lover
by on February 10, 1999 in Poetry

Unsettled grab for Tums
But can’t ignore what’s at
The root of this
Antacid won’t help me
Forget last night
Toss and turning in my sleep
I wake
Wishing you were there by me
Your presence would inhibit me
From doing what’s not right

I want some drama
Need some passion
Conversations can’t provide
Know I can be a little feisty
For you love
Want to come home to
Your arms wide open
Turn the key and see your smile
Not another baby message
From my love

Nothing’s better than your touch
And the way you look at me
You make me feel like a princess
Then you go
But what do you expect
When you say that I can play
Around when you’re not here
Do you really want to know?

Would you still call me baby
If you knew the things I do?
The phone is not enough
To keep me with only you
