You Don’t Understand
by on November 27, 1999 in Poetry

You tell me
That I’m difficult
As you try to calm me down
Blowing kisses over the phone
You think that
We are so connected
But the more I get to know you
The more I feel alone
Because you don’t understand
The way that my mind works
And why your talk can tend
To get me going
While you’re calmly pursuing
I’m brewing
No doubt I’ll be exploding soon
And while you’re focused
On the moment
My mind is swirling
I’m planning
Just want some understanding
And I know that I could stay
I could pretend that I don’t care
I could be your arm candy
But what I’m gonna do instead
Is gonna hurt like hell
Because I’m desperate
To find some peace and sanity
And you may be content
With this
But I don’t care for cameras
The lights and the attention
I can’t support your massive ego
So I’ll go
And leave you to all your convictions
You can go and find yourself
A simple girl
Who adores you
Won’t challenge
All your points of view
Because for me I’m just not liking
The person I become
When I’m with you
