Between Two

A chance meeting between
Two open hearts
A spark ignited
Then simply pursued
At first disbelief
That it could feel so easy
Spending time with someone
That they barely knew
Sharing stories of their past
Laughter and champagne
Calls to friends and family
The first mention of
The others’ name
Excitement and momentum
Slowly
Two paths merge into one
Emboldened by
Their newfound love
Life is so much fun
Peeling back the layers
Liking more and more
What’s seen
With a continued focus
On kindness
And a willingness to show
Vulnerability
Disagreements and doubts
Then talking it out
Only further strengthen
The bond
Between these two
First lovers
Now friends
Who together can do
No wrong
Visions of their future shared
Then realized as
Wedding vows are exchanged
Surrounded by their loved ones
Who support
The promises made
Celebrations and children
Travel and trials
Laughter and tears
And exchanged knowing smiles
New houses and jobs
Adventures and friends
Supporting each other through
Whatever life sends
Frustrations with children
Then children no more
College and onwards
Adult friendships formed
A full life continues
But the pace begins to slow
More time for each other now
To look back at the road
That they’ve traveled together
A spark ignited
Then simply pursued
Now bonded by sweet memories
A shared life and love
Between two
