The energy is kinetic
You feel it wherever you go
A shifty-eyed
Self-conscious
Craving for attention
People acting like they’re
Somebody
That somebody should know
Possibility is palpable
New friends a predictable fate
Valet convenience
And poolside cabanas
If you know someone
Or can pay
Sunshine dusty air
Mixed with exhaust fumes
Beachside towns
Filled with dreamers
Dreaming of what they’ll do
Kisses on the cheek
“Love you you’re the best!”
Fashion
Beauty
Stars
And status
Houses
Cars
And sex
Suddenly unplugged
Cold wind and fog
Blow in
Something new
Hipster professional
Dive bar conversations
And men
Who ask questions too
