San Francisco

San Francisco
Your fog rolled in
Over me
Constricting my breath
Closing me in
Wool sweaters
Wind whipping
Up and down
Up and down
The streets representing
My emotional swings
You tricked me
With your dramatic skyline
Lured me in
With your food
Entrepreneurial flair
Intellectual conversation
Expanding my mind
Helping me discover
I care
You brought me to my knees
Then enveloped me
Building my strength
With each step that I took
Surrounded by family
And friends
New and old
Old and new
Everywhere that I looked
San Francisco
Your bitter cold beauty
Tough love
I know that I’ll miss
Thank you
For making me better
But now it’s time
For me to go live
